Dr Flavio Toxvaerd

Visiting Fellow

Dr Flavio Toxvaerd is a University Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge and a fellow of Clare College. He holds degrees from the University of Copenhagen (BSc Economics, MSc Economics), the London School of Economics (MSc Econometrics and Mathematical Economics) and the London Business School (PhD Economics). Since 2017, he has acted as an Associate Editor of the European Economic Review and been a member of the Academic Panel of the Competition and Markets Authority, UK.

Before joining the University of Cambridge, he held positions at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (post doctoral researcher) and at the Department of Economics, Hebrew University of Jerusalem (tenure track lecturer) where he was also affiliated with the Center for the Study of Rationality. He has held a number of fellowships, including a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship and a Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance Fellowship.

His main research interests include microeconomic theory, game theory, industrial organization, corporate finance and economic epidemiology. He has taught courses on these and other subjects at all levels. His research has been published in the Journal of Economic Theory, the RAND Journal of Economics, the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control and the Journal of Theoretical Biology.

Outside of academia, he has acted as a consultant for both the private and public sectors. He has also served as the senior economic advisor to the Review on Antimicrobial Resistance (set up by HM Treasury and the Wellcome Trust).
