Julia Talbot-Jones is an environmental and institutional economist at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and an Affiliated Researcher at the Bennett Institute for Public Policy and The Ostrom Workshop for Political Theory and Policy Analysis, Indiana University.

At the Bennett Institute she collaborates with colleagues on ways to accelerate progress on environmental and social policy objectives within desirable timeframes. This work focuses on advancing methods at the intersection of economic welfare measurement, welfare economics, and economic theory.

More broadly, Julia’s work investigates how social arrangements or structures, what economists call institutions, can solve environmental and natural resource problems over time. She enjoys taking an interdisciplinary approach to research and regularly collaborates with scholars and practitioners from across the natural and physical sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
