During National Productivity Week 2025, digital and financial leaders discussed how to make the enterprise more productive and if AI has a role to play.

As part of National Productivity Week, led by The Productivity Institute at the end of January 2025, Dr Nina Jörden chaired a panel discussion between digital leaders to uncover why productivity matters, the role leaders have in moving to a productivity focus, defining productivity, and the role of data and AI.
Dr Nina Jörden, co-author of Navigating the Productivity Paradox: Strategic Insights from Chief Information Officers, highlighted:
“Awareness of what productivity could look like and how it could be measured is there, but the narrative to hold this together is missing. In Germany, we call it “everyone is cooking their own soup” and not working together.”
The main points raised during the discussion included:
- Proactive cost control requires real-time insights and data.
- We need shared accountability for tech and its costs, from engineers to product managers.
- A ‘north star’ for leadership is vital to guide discussions and manage conflicts at the board level.
